ENTEPOLA 2007

ENTEPOLA 2007

After a 5 year break PASMI has renewed its participation in the long-running community theatre festival ENTEPOLA, organised by La Carreta Theatre Company since 1987 in the periphery of Santiago, and which is now based in Pudahuel.

Our collaboration this year, as in the past, was to coordinate the POPULTEATRO forums of theoretical and critical exchange that occur every day between the community theatre workers from all over Latin America that come to ENTEPOLA. These forums are essential to the growth and development of the community theatre movement and the formation of community theatre workers in Chile… A broad range of issues were discussed including:

  • the aesthetics of community theatre;
  • the role of the community theatre workers in a community project;
  • definitions of community theatre in Latin America;
  • the need for training in community theatre, particularly in Chile; and
  • suggestions for possible themes for future POPULTEATRO forums.

In a sparsely documented field of work, we believe it is very important to keep records of such forums and so a rigorous audio and written documentation was kept. The audio recordings in Spanish will soon be available in this website. PASMI will continue to collaborate with La Carreta on the establishment of the Latinamerican Community Theatre School ELATEP, with the aim of training professional community theatre workers. Also, we have begun collaborating on the coordination of ENTEPOLA 2008…

Radioplay “Y no eras tan chorito”

Chorito

When we think we have everything under control, many times it is our memory that fails us, and many times it is far too late to recover it. In the radioplay “Y no eras tan chorito” (roughly translated as “And weren’t you a tough guy”), the theatre groups FÉNIX and ILUSIONES of the Colina 1 Prison, in collaboration with PASMI and the writers Gabriel Jiménez and Claudio Geisse, make the effort to recover the memory we have lost through drug abuse.
